INFORMATION FOR AUCTION SUNDAY JUNE 27TH
REMINDER – GNTOS MEETING AND PLANT AUCTION To: ALL Members of GNTOS, FWOS and Dallas Judging Center The GNTOS will have it’s summer pot luck and plant auction at Judy Cook’s Greenhouse in Gunter Texas. There will be burgers and hot dogs, and hopefully some intermingling of our respective societies. It will be on Sunday, June 27 from 1 – 5 pm at 411 Kerfoot Drive in Gunter, Texas. The plan is for people to arrive/ stroll around/ eat in the 1 – 3 time period and at 3 we will have the business meeting and auction. I am appending the instructions I included for the newsletter as well as directions from Dallas. People coming from Ft Worth basically need to find their way to 121 or 380 and travel east until they hit 289 ( Preston Rd) and then follow the remaining directions. I am really looking forward to having all of you out to the house/greenhouse for the next meeting and Auction. I will have burgers and hot dogs and the rest will be pot luck as usual. DO REMEMBER TO BRING PLANTS FOR AUCTION AND MONEY TO BUY MORE PLANTS FOR YOURSELF!!!!. I have invited the Fort Worth Society and hope some of their members will also attend and sell plants. This is OUT IN THE COUNTRY, and I would recommend you wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for some walking on uneven ground. Some of you will probably need to park on the grass at the back of the property which is a pleasant walk, but definitely not one for dressy shoes. Also bring comfortable folding chairs – since I have a finite number of chairs at home - and things like bug sprays. Also, if you are highly allergic to poison ivy, ask me which areas you need to avoid, since it is in the process of reemerging and I have an occasional patch. The critters other than bugs generally stay hidden in daylight hours – especially with a lot of people noises around - except for my two dogs, who love to do a friendly welcome dance around each vehicle that comes and goes. I will try to keep them in, but please drive with some caution, as they are quick to escape. Despite the current heat wave, I have a lot of shade trees, and there is usually a nice breeze blowing under them to make the heat tolerable. David has put together instructions for how to get here and it is pretty easy – but about an hour’s drive from Dallas. Do please try to send an e-mail to let me know if you are coming - it will make it easier be adequately prepared if I have a rough head count. (judymd@gojudy.net) If you get lost, you can call my cell 903-436-7527 - or you can call Manny, or the Brandenbergs who also know the directions if you can’t reach me. See you on the 27th The easy, slow way from Dallas to Judy Cook’s House Take Preston road (289) north. Way north. Way, way north past Prosper and Celina to Gunter. Go about 1 mile through Gunter to Kerfoot Drive - just on the North side of the high school you will see - and turn right. Go to 411 Kerfoot Drive which is the second house on the left. You can make the above route a bit faster if you choose to take the Dallas North Tollway all the way until it dead ends at 380. Then turn right, go 1 mile on 380, and turn left on 289 (this puts you in Prosper) and continue as above The other faster way from Dallas: (still pretty easy) Go north on Central (75) past McKinney to Exit 51 ( FM 121, W. Stephens St.), at Van Alstyne and exit and turn left / west. Wend and wind for about 10 miles to Gunter and turn right / north, on S. 8th street (Hwy 289). Go about .8 miles to Kerfoot Drive and turn right, and go to 411 Kerfoot Drive.
